Role Overview:
We are looking for a Carpenter/Joiner/Cabinet Maker with ambition and a willingness to learn a broader set of skills, expanding into problem-solving for more complex builds, and training for the right candidate into metalwork and fabrication.
A high regard will be placed on applicants with experience, as a carpenter, or similar qualifications, as well as the ability to supervise apprentices. Any gaps in experience with metalwork or specialised mechanical and electrical integrations will be supported with training and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and assemble custom joinery, cabinetry, and furniture for commercial and residential clients.
- Work with wood, metal, acrylic, and composites to produce high-quality, durable builds.
- Carry out metal fabrication tasks with assistance of the BOO-X team such as cutting, welding, grinding, and finishing.
- Assist with shop fitting and installation of bespoke retail and commercial displays.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD designs, and plans to ensure precision.
- Operate our machinery safely and efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of craftsmanship and detail in all projects.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to apprentices and other staff if supervising
Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience in cabinet making, joinery, and custom furniture fabrication.
- A cabinet making license or similar qualification (preferred).
- Experience leading or supervising apprentices (if applicable).
- Strong understanding of woodworking materials, tools, and finishing techniques.
- Basic to intermediate metalworking skills (cutting, welding, fabrication) – training available if required.
- Willingness to develop skills in mechanical problem-solving in specialized build elements from mechanical through to electrical– support available where needed.
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability for unique project challenges.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Comfortable working both independently and in a team environment.
- Flexible with the type of work we do - it changes from one job to the next
Preferred but Not Essential:
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to interpret and physically mark up drawings for fabrication and installation.
- Experience in ordering materials and understanding project requirements.
- Knowledge of basic machinery setup and maintenance to ensure smooth operation.
