In 2024, UNSW reached a significant milestone by raising more than $1002 million through philanthropy, including the largest single donation in our history—$25.9 million from the Swire Group. This gift will directly impact vital health initiatives across the Pacific, supporting cervical screening and treatment services for over 130,000 women in seven countries.
The Executive Officer (EO) will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and senior leadership, ensuring the smooth operation of our advancement activities that help bring these transformative contributions to life. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, a high level of tact, sensitivity and diplomacy, and strong interpersonal skills.
The EO reports to the CAO and supervises the CAO's Executive Assistant (EA).
**Responsibilities Summary**:
- Provide strategic support to the CAO, including preparation of briefing notes, presentations, reports and budget oversight.
- Draft and review communications for the CAO, ensuring alignment with the University's strategic goals (e.g. speeches, social media, board papers, presentations).
- Act as a liaison between the CAO and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and effective communication.
- Manage a range of ad hoc tasks and projects as required, with a can-do attitude.
- Use data and analytics to inform decisions, prepare reports, and drive innovation in Advancement activities.
- Manage and coordinate special projects, ensuring alignment with University objectives and timely completion.
- Help ensure compliance with University policies and regulations.
- Support the CAO with research, strategic advice, project management, and development of proposals.
- Plan and coordinate events, meetings, and engagements for the CAO, including logistics a nd follow-up.
- Supervise the CAO's Executive Assistant to ensure smooth administrative operations.
- Manage the CAO's office operations, including diary management, travel, and document handling.
**Skills and Experience Summary**:
- Significant demonstrated experience in providing executive support at a senior leadership level in a high-performing team within a large, complex organisation, higher education preferred.
- Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Expert-level organisational skills with the ability to operate autonomously, manage multiple tasks, establish priorities, and meet deadlines, while demonstrating strong initiative and a proactive approach to driving process improvement.
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
