The Opportunity
We're looking for a capable, forward-thinking Mechanical Design Engineer to help shape the next generation of heavy duty trailer solutions.
BTE is expanding its engineering capability and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong background in tipping equipment, side tippers, walking floor trailers or heavy semi-trailer design.
This is a role for someone who wants to build more than just drawings you'll help influence product direction and play a key part in our growth.
You will work directly with leadership, manufacturing and customers to engineer equipment that performs in real-world Australian conditions.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Design and development of heavy duty trailer systems and components
3D modelling and assemblies in SolidWorks
2D drafting and detailing in AutoCAD
Supporting sales with technically sound, commercially viable design solutions
Working closely with production to ensure efficient manufacturability
Continuous product improvement and innovation initiatives
Ensuring designs comply with current ADR requirements and relevant Australian Standards
Producing accurate engineering documentation and BOMs
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in mechanical design, ideally within heavy transport or similar structural/fabrication environments
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D)
Experience in AutoCAD (2D drafting)
Sound knowledge of current Australian Design Rules (ADRs) and applicable Australian Standards
Practical understanding of fabrication and structural design
Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team
PBS / heavy vehicle compliance experience highly regarded
Practical mindset someone who has solved problems in the field, not just behind a screen
