Primary objective
Work within a small, multi-disciplinary team to identify and support people experiencing domestic and family violence. Review,
collate and analyse data from a variety of sources, including intelligence information, to assess risk, produce reports and make
recommendations.
Context statement
The DFV Co-responder Early Intervention program is a multi-agency response which supports people at risk of harm from Domestic
and Family Violence (DFV). Clients suitable for early intervention supports are offered safety planning, brief intervention and
referrals to DFV specialist services. This position plays a key role in the identification of suitable clients (both victim-survivors and
perpetrators) through the compilation and assessment of data and other intelligence information. Other team members are Police
Officers, Aboriginal Liaison Officers, a child protection practitioner, and DFSV specialist support workers from non-government
organisations.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Review and collate information from multiple sources including the Police Risk Screening Tool, Common Risk Assessment Tool,
police IT systems and databases.
2. Contribute to daily team planning meetings to recommend and agree on the most suitable clients, to be offered early
intervention.
1. Provide succinct, accurate written and verbal advice to a range of stakeholders including other Co-responder Early Intervention
Team members, NT Police Executives, and other government agencies.
1. Compile activity data to monitor program activity and effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
2. Provide general administrative support to the team, as needed.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Understanding of the Northern Territory Government Risk Assessment and Management Framework (RAMF) and the
complexity of domestic violence.
1. High level analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to synthesise information into concise, comprehensible reports which
include evidence-based recommendations and statistical information.
1. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to discuss sensitive information with diplomacy, and
maintain strict confidentiality.
4. Ability to work under pressure, coordinate and manage tasks, prioritise and track commitments, and meet critical deadlines,
whilst maintaining quality standards.
1. Ability to work with initiative and autonomy, both independently and as part of a team, in a continually changing environment.
2. Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, guidelines, strategies and memorandums of understanding.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications.
1. Experience utilising SerPro, intelligence style databases, or other complex databases to obtain information.
