Your new role
As the Mechanical Engineer – Governance & Technical Stewardship, you will work closely with the Principal Engineer and support statutory MEM responsibilities. Key duties include:
- Championing Management of Change (MoC) and G&TS; pre-reviews
- Reviewing mechanical documents at site and asset levels
- Administering and reviewing Intelics mechanical registers
- Providing mechanical design and drawing reviews
- Offering technical guidance aligned with standards and procedures
- Supporting RS23 stage 3 WRACs and reviews
- Acting as risk control owner for dropped objects and stored energy release
- Supporting MEM with dossier reviews, incident investigations, and permit sign-offs
- Attending risk assessments and providing mechanical support
- Participating in BOS processes, field leadership, and hazard identification
- Engaging in crew safe start meetings and problem-solving initiatives
What you'll need to succeed
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (university or trade)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining
- Proficiency in SAP Work Management, Fiori, BHP MoC, D2, Meridian, FLEX, MS Suite, and GRC
- Ability and willingness to work underground
- Eligibility for supervisor appointment
- Prior coal mining experience (underground preferred)
- Experience in maintenance and engineering
