Assistant Educator + Kitchenhand | Sunnybank Montessori
Avenue's Montessori Children's House is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate individual to join our team in a unique dual-role position as an Assistant Educator & Kitchen Support.
This rewarding opportunity is ideal for a qualified Early Childhood professional, or an individual with kitchen experience who is passionate about working with children as well as in the kitchen. The successful applicant will work alongside our experienced Montessori Lead Guides when required while also supporting the daily operation of our kitchen and food service program.

About the Role
This position combines responsibilities within both our kitchen and educational environments.
Kitchen Responsibilities
* Assist with the preparation and cooking of fresh meals daily, including morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon snacks.
* Support the management of children's dietary, allergy and anaphylaxis requirements.
* Ensure safe food handling practices are maintained at all times.
* Support the service's nutrition, food safety and kitchen hygiene policies.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
* Complete kitchen cleaning and dishwashing duties.
* Provide kitchen leadership and independently manage kitchen operations when the Chef is absent.
* Prepare and serve meals in accordance with nutritional guidelines and food safety standards.
Early Childhood Responsibilities
* Support our Lead Guides and Educators in providing high-quality Montessori learning experiences.
* Assist in creating engaging, inclusive and nurturing learning environments for children.
* Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
* Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture.
* Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in daily operations.
* Support the implementation of educational programs and daily routines.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
* Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or ACECQA‐approved equivalent).
* Experience working within a Montessori environment.
* Food Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Mandatory Requirements
* Current Paid Blue Card.
* Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
* Current Asthma Management Certificate.
* Current Anaphylaxis Management Certificate.
* Current Working with Children Check.
* Food Safety and Hygiene knowledge and practices.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, standard roster. When covering the Chef's leave or absence, applicants must be available to work 7:15 am – 3:15 pm, Monday to Friday.
