Mechanical Engineer (Production Engineering)

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join a newly established Production Engineering team within a high-technology engineering environment.
This role focuses on bridging the gap between research & development and manufacturing, ensuring products are successfully transitioned into scalable, robust production. You'll play a key role in developing production processes, designing tooling, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the transfer of products from development into manufacturing.
* Conduct Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/DFA) reviews.
* Lead mechanical activities within NPI projects.
* Collaborate with design teams to ensure manufacturable solutions.
* Design and develop assembly fixtures, tooling, and test jigs.
* Create and maintain build instructions and production documentation.
* Establish controlled, repeatable manufacturing processes.
* Improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
* Identify opportunities to reduce build time and production costs.
* Implement engineering changes to enhance manufacturability.
* Provide hands‐on support for mechanical issues in production.
* Conduct root‐cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
* Support non‐conformance investigations and quality improvements.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
* Experience in production, manufacturing, or mechanical design engineering.
* Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or similar).
* Knowledge of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, moulding, assemblies).
