Hutchies is seeking an experienced Senior Automation Tester to join our Toowong team on a full‐time, permanent basis, to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of modern full‐stack applications. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test frameworks across frontend, backend, and integration layers while working closely with developers, product owners, and platform teams in an agile environment.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Automation Tester your responsibilities will include:
Test Strategy & Automation
* Design and implement automated testing strategies covering frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, and event‐driven workflows.
* Build and maintain automated test suites for serverless applications using AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, and RDS.
* Ensure appropriate coverage across unit, integration, contract, end‐to‐end (E2E), regression, and smoke testing.
Frontend & API Testing
* Develop automated tests for web and mobile applications built ideally with Flutter and/or React.
* Validate GraphQL and REST APIs, including schema validation, authorisation, error handling, and performance.
* Collaborate with UI/UX designers and developers to validate usability, accessibility, and cross‐browser/device behaviour.
CI/CD & DevOps Integration
* Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring quality gates are enforced before deployment.
* Support testing across multiple environments (dev, test, staging, production) using infrastructure defined via AWS CDK.
* Enable fast feedback through parallel execution, test data management, and reporting.
Serverless & Integration Testing
* Test event‐driven architectures, including asynchronous flows, retries, dead‐letter queues, and idempotency.
* Validate integrations with third‐party systems, internal services, and AWS managed services.
* Support contract testing to ensure compatibility between independently deployed services.
Quality, Security & Observability
* Collaborate with teams to embed quality and testability into solution design.
* Assist with non‐functional testing, including performance, reliability, and basic security validation.
* Analyse logs, metrics, and traces (e.g. CloudWatch, X‐Ray) to support defect investigation and root‐cause analysis.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
* Work closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to refine acceptance criteria and test scenarios.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of test frameworks, tools, and quality practices.
* Promote a quality‐first mindset across the delivery team.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* 5+ years' experience in software testing with a strong focus on test automation across modern full‐stack applications.
* Proven ability to define and implement test strategies spanning unit, integration, contract, E2E, regression, and smoke testing.
* Hands-on experience creating automated tests for web applications built with Flutter or React (component/UI testing and E2E).
* Exposure to automated testing of mobile applications, ideally Flutter (or equivalent cross-platform testing experience).
* Strong experience testing REST and GraphQL APIs
* Practical experience testing AWS serverless solutions
* Experience supporting non-functional testing including performance and security testing
* Strong experience working in Agile delivery teams (Scrum/Kanban), collaborating daily with developers, product owners, and platform teams.
* Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to promote a quality-first mindset across the team.
