Our Strategic Policy Science & Engagement team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Advisor Media to delivers effective media communications by proactively engaging with media representatives to strengthen the department's brand and reputation.
In this role, you will lead effective media communications, build strong relationships with media representatives, and develop high‐quality media collateral that supports government priorities and elevates the department's brand.
You will provide strategic communication advice, identify emerging issues, coordinate timely media responses, and support major initiatives, events and Ministerial engagements. This is an opportunity to influence public perception, guide messaging on critical issues, and contribute to the department's strategic objectives in a fast‐paced, high‐profile environment.
About You
You have strong technical capabilities in media relations, including experience preparing high‐quality media materials, managing issues, and navigating complex stakeholder environments. You are skilled at analysing media trends, crafting clear and compelling content, and providing strategic communication advice under pressure.
You bring resilience, adaptability and a calm, solutions‐focused approach to fast‐moving and confidential environments, enabling you to navigate emerging issues with confidence and uphold the department's reputation.
Essential Requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in media, journalism or similar or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated experience in media relations, including contacts with media organisations and an understanding of emergent issues impacting on the client group.
