Salary $100,440.08 + Super/ + RDO + Flexible Working
19 day month with RDO or 9 day fortnight option, your choice!

The Role

Make a difference in our business community!

Reporting to the Unit Manager Investment Attraction and Growth, the Sustainable Business Officer plays a key role in delivering initiatives aligned with Council's Community Plan and Economic Growth Strategy, with a strong focus on supporting a resilient, innovative and sustainable local economy.

A core focus of this position is to support the local business community to transition to more efficient and sustainable ways of working. This includes, but is not limited to, encouraging circular economy practices, identifying and unlocking opportunities within the City's growing resource recovery sector, and supporting broader sustainability and efficiency initiatives as opportunities arise.

The role works closely with local businesses, industry, and partner stakeholders to develop and strengthen partnerships that enable positive economic outcomes. Through collaboration, engagement and practical support, the Sustainable Business Officer helps businesses adapt, innovate and thrive.

Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering programs and initiatives that support sustainable and efficient business practices
* Identifying opportunities to grow and strengthen circular economy and resource recovery activities
* Engaging with local businesses to understand challenges and opportunities for sustainability improvement
* Building and maintaining strong partnerships with business, industry and key stakeholders
* Contributing to the implementation of Council strategies and plans related to economic growth and sustainability
* Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on program outcomes and impacts
About you

You are passionate about sustainability, economic development and supporting businesses to innovate and adapt. You bring a collaborative mindset and enjoy working with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You have an appropriate tertiary qualification and extensive experience and achievement in economic development with particular success in relationship management and customer service.

Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience or strong interest in sustainable business practices, circular economy principles, or economic development
* The ability to build effective partnerships with business, industry and community stakeholders
* Strong communication and engagement skills, with the ability to translate sustainability concepts into practical business opportunities
* Experience in project delivery, program coordination or policy implementation (preferably in a local government or similar environment)
* Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and unlock emerging opportunities
* A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities
