Position Profile: As part of the Great Southern Aboriginal Health Service (GSAHS) and under the direction and support of the Senior Mental Health Professional, this role provides social and emotional wellbeing support to individuals and groups in response to community need. The Aboriginal Mental Health Worker is a member of the GSAHS multidisciplinary health team, working to improve access to mental health care and promote culturally safe Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB). The occupant is required to demonstrate a positive commitment to modelling our organisational values, safety and quality improvement and the Code of Conduct in all aspects of their employment. Compliance with relevant policies, procedures, standards and legislation including Confidentiality and Work Health and Safety policies is mandatory.
Directorate Overview: Great Southern Aboriginal Health Service is part of the Population Health Directorate and supports Aboriginal people to achieve optimal health. The team takes a holistic approach, working in partnership with other organisations. Priority health areas include child and family health (including antenatal care), disease control (immunisation and sexual health), chronic disease management, ear/hearing, social and emotional wellbeing and mental health, liaison and transport services.
Area Profile: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health system in Australia, providing services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, across a vast, remote area. The organisation comprises seven regions with a strong network of hospitals, health services and centres across rural and remote Western Australia.
