About the Role
We are searching for an enthusiastic and personable dietitian to provide high-quality nutrition care through home visits and telehealth consultations in the Bendigo region.
This role is ideal for a dietitian who is:
* Passionate about disability nutrition, working with children, adults, and older adults.
* Possesses experience, interest, and skills in providing support to children with selective eating, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and eating disorders.
* Looking for flexible, casual subcontractor work to complement their current workload.
* Confident in working independently with minimal supervision.
* Comfortable with travel within the Bendigo area and surrounding regions (maximum of 1 hour travel each way).
* The days for subcontractor work are flexible, and hours are up to the subcontractor, allowing you to fit the role into your existing schedule.
Key Responsibilities
* Start with approximately 4 hours per week, with room to grow depending on referrals and your availability. Please note: Hours per week are an estimate and may be less initially, with potential to increase as time goes on if desired, ideally building up to 1-2 days per week.
* Provide a mix of home visits and telehealth consultations.
* Manage your own appointment schedule to fit alongside your existing commitments.
* Deliver nutrition care in clients' homes or agreed meeting places (e.g., community centres, libraries).
* Offer tailored support, including:
* Nutrition education.
* Cooking education and meal preparation support.
* Supermarket tours to identify nutritious products.
* Food therapy.
* Caseload may include adults and children on PEG feeds.
Compensation
* Travel time will be compensated in line with NDIS guidelines.
* Travel base location to be within the Bendigo region (if residing outside this area, a local Bendigo suburb will be designated for calculating travel fees).
* Paid for last-minute cancellations.
Requirements
* Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status with Dietitians Australia.
* NDIS Worker Screening Check.
* Working with Children Check.
* ABN and public indemnity & liability insurance.
* Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
* Skilled and confident in working with selective eating and eating disorders.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Upon starting, dietitians will need to possess or complete the free NDIS Workers Orientation Module & Hand Hygiene Course to comply with NDIS registered business obligations.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience working with PEG feeds in infants.
* At least 1 year of experience working with children (under 12 years).
* Completion of paediatric nutrition training (e.g., SOS Approach to Feeding).
* Demonstrated interest in working with disabilities.
Additional Details
* Home visits will primarily be within a 50km radius of Bendigo, focusing on the local region and surrounding areas (with a maximum of 1 hour travel each way).
* Clients are primarily funded by the NDIS or Aged Care Packages.
* This role does not include senior dietitian mentoring or supervision.
* There will be a 3-month probation period.
