The Application Support Specialist’s primary function is to analyze, evaluate, modify, test, and implement site-wide information systems, as well as support the Operating System. They will respond to user and systems problems and prepare application system specifications. In addition, they will identify, plan, implement, and coordinate system upgrades, enhancements, or maintenance. Reports directly to the Deputy or Functional Area Manager.
Applicants must be a US citizen with a TS/SCI security clearance or an Australian citizen who can obtain the appropriate clearance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide first and second level end-user support on various systems, including business applications, internet/intranet, and web-based applications.
- Maintain and configure virtual servers, hardware, Cisco Call Managers, VoIP phones, and user accounts.
- Maintain accurate inventory of all IT equipment, network configurations, and diagrams.
- Resolve user hardware and software issues with printers, laptops, and desktops.
- Set up computers with necessary software, security patches, email accounts, and network settings.
- Provide technical support for Microsoft Windows 2012/Win7 and Linux operating systems.
- Correct network problems and coordinate corrective actions with third-party vendors.
- Support remote access issues via FTP, RDP, or VPN. Document IT procedures and generate manuals for custom applications.
- Coordinate with IT vendors and consultants.
- Support internal application requirements, e.g., Microsoft Access, PHP, JSP, SQL.
- Research and negotiate pricing for IT purchases with vendors.
- Maintain health and safety practices at the site and workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma (Year 12 completion)
- CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Formal qualifications in Computer Science or IT or equivalent experience
- MCSE/MCSA, Red Hat Linux Certification, Network+ Certification, ITIL Foundation, VMWare Certification

Experience and Skills
- At least 3 years of relevant experience
- Solid communication skills
- Experience with MS Office, VMWare, Linux, TCP/IP, networks
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, MySQL, PHP, JSP, Oracle is helpful
- End-user support skills
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Office setting, occasional lifting, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, and communication requirements.
Security Clearance Requirement
Employees must obtain and retain the necessary security and medical clearances, including TS/SCI with Polygraph or Australian TSPV clearance.
