MyStep to Mental Wellbeing

MyStep to Mental Wellbeing offers a range of mental health services from peer led group work and early intervention to individually tailored therapies for clients with complex needs. MyStep delivers services within a stepped care model comprising of different types of interventions matched to the individuals needs at the time.

We also offer in-reach services into residential aged care facilities for residents who have, or are at risk of developing, a mental illness, such as depression, adjustment disorders or abnormal symptoms of grief and loss.

About The Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic Student Mental Health Counsellor who has demonstrated experience working with Adult and/or Child and Adolescent clients to join the MyStep to Mental Wellbeing team.

The Mental Health Counsellor will work collaboratively to undertake individual assessments for adults, children, youth, and their families, develop rehabilitation plans and provide evidence based psychological therapies. You will conduct collaborative case management with clients, their carers and families and relevant stakeholders to meet individual needs and will actively participate in service enhancement activities and initiatives.

This is a great opportunity for candidates with a counselling background and who are eligible for PACFA or ACA accreditation.

Based in Wagga Wagga, this is a full time opportunity with the option of a rostered day off.

What You'll Need
* Current registration with PACFA or ACA or eligibility for registration
* Tertiary qualifications (minimum Bachelor) in Mental Health, Aboriginal Mental Health Work, Counselling, Social Science or other related and relevant health fields
* Minimum 5 years demonstrated skills and experience in conducting assessments, collaboratively developing care plans with individuals from a recovery-orientated, person-centred, trauma-informed, strength-based and compassionate perspective.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with individuals and their families/carers/natural supports who may be experiencing significant distress
