Role description
Seeking an NV2 cleared Infrastructure Systems Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security and performance of the Fleet Battle Lab System. You will work across Windows, Linux, virtualisation and network environments, supporting highly available, secure infrastructure in line with Defence cyber standards.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the Fleet Battle Lab System;
* Administer and maintain Windows Server (2022) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 systems.
* Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and system security/hardening.
* Configure, support, and optimise Hyper‐V and VMware virtualization environments.
* Manage Veeam Backup & Replication, including testing and disaster recovery planning.
* Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Cisco switches/routers and FortiGate firewalls.
* Support LAN, WAN and VPN infrastructure with a focus on uptime and security.
* Assist with the integration of simulation systems using simulation architecture;
* Ensure that systems are maintained in accordance with current cyber standards;
* Monitor system and network performance, applying patches, updates, and hotfixes.
* Automate administration tasks using PowerShell and Bash scripting.
* Provide Tier 2/3 support, troubleshoot incidents, and document solutions.
* Collaborate with vendors and key stakeholders on incidents, issues, resolutions, and ongoing support, following change management processes.
* Maintain and update documentation for all operational and new ICT systems, services, and processes to support effective management.
* Contribute to a collaborative, high‐performing team culture, supporting cohesion and operational excellence.
Essential requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in systems administration within medium to large IT environments
* Tertiary qualifications in IT, or equivalent industry certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator, RHCSA / RHCE, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Cisco CCNA / CCNP, Fortinet NSE (4 or higher), Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE), CompTIA Security+ or Network+
* Strong experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux (RHEL) systems
* Hands on experience with Hyper V, VMware and Veeam Backup & Replication
* Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
* Proven experience with Cisco networking and FortiGate firewalls, including VLANs, routing, VPNs and multicast
* Solid understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, routing, switching and VPNs
* NV2 Active clearance Certificate IV, Diploma, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in an IT discipline; or
* Industry certifications such as:
* Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator
* Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Engineer (RHCE)
* VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
* Cisco CCNA/CCNP
* Fortinet NSE certification (NSE 4 or higher)
* Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
* CompTIA Security+ or Network+
Desirable
* Ex serving Defence member with an IT or Combat Systems Operations background
* Exposure to C4I systems such as Link 16 or GCCS and strong proficiency in PowerShell and Bash for automation and system management

Location
Navy Fleet Battle Labs, Garden Island Sydney, NSW. In location support is required to support integrated team operations. Flexibility of Working from home, dependant on tasking requirements.
Weekly hours
Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
