About the Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Structures Engineer to join our dynamic Airframe Structures Team in Sydney. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in providing essential structures engineering support for our military fixed-wing aircraft program.
Reporting to your Team Lead and guided by your Technical Lead, you'll leverage your expertise in stress analysis to develop, approve, and help deliver safe, practical, and agile design solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented engineer to contribute directly to the airworthiness and longevity of critical aerospace assets.
What You'll Bring
To thrive in this role, you'll be a proactive and collaborative engineer with a solid foundation in aerospace structures. You'll be comfortable working both independently and as part of a high-performing team in a continuous improvement environment.
We're looking for someone who demonstrates:
- 8+ years of hands-on aerospace stress analysis experience covering repair or new designs. This includes:
- Static strength analysis (metallic and composite materials)
- Fatigue and damage tolerance analysis (highly valued)
- Proficiency with FEM (Hyperworks / Patran) and CATIA V5
- Practical knowledge of airframe structural principles, encompassing materials, manufacturing processes, and through-life airframe sustainment. An awareness of commercial aspects is also valuable.
- Strong understanding of Continued and Continuing airworthiness.
- Familiarity with applicable aviation legislation and regulations (e.g., DASR, EASA, CASA, FAA, Transport Canada) and industry best practices.
- A Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, or a related discipline from a nationally accredited program, or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build lasting, collaborative relationships with colleagues and cross-functional teams, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
