Roads ACT is seeking a motivated and reliable Asset Inspector to join the Road and Path Network Business Unit. This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in infrastructure maintenance while contributing to the safety, functionality and amenity of Canberra’s roads and paths.
As an Asset Inspector, you will support the planning, inspection and delivery of municipal infrastructure maintenance activities across the ACT. Working closely with contractors, internal stakeholders and the broader ACT Government, you will ensure assets are inspected, maintained and managed to a high standard.
The role focuses on undertaking asset inspections, assessing and reporting on asset condition, and coordinating maintenance works. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining an inspection framework for municipal infrastructure assets, identifying defects and risks, and providing clear advice on corrective actions.
The position also assists with planning and coordinating timely and efficient maintenance programs, supports contract administration through monitoring quality, timeliness and compliance with standards, and prepares reports and responses to enquiries, including public and Ministerial requests. Asset management and information systems are used to accurately record inspections, track works and support continuous improvement in service delivery.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

o Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas.
o Hold a relevant professional qualification in Engineering, Architecture or Project Management or accreditation with a professional body recognised within Australia; or hold a relevant building degree; or have significant building or Infrastructure knowledge and/or project management experience.
o Driver’s licence (C-Class) is essential.
o Implement traffic control plans (IMP) desirable.
o CPCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry – highly desirable or the ability to attain during the probation period.
o 11084NAT - Course in Asbestos Awareness - highly desirable or the ability to attain during the probation period.
o This position does require a pre-employment medical.
o This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People Check.
