Thermal Processing Specialist Job Overview
The role of the Thermal Processing Specialist is to execute thermal processing operations in accordance with customer specifications.
1. Pre-Process Preparation:
o Review documentation and tech cards to determine part requirements, temperature, and load necessities.
o Identify and consolidate parts with similar processing needs.
o Clean parts before loading.
2. Air Furnace Operations:
o Inspect furnace systems for proper operation.
o Load furnaces according to load charts; set controls and monitor computerized Data Acquisition System.
o Control argon flow to achieve suitable dewpoint levels during the thermal process.
3. Vacuum Furnace Operations:
o Check pumps and elements in the furnace; inspect leak rate.
o Load/unload baskets and operate furnaces; adjust temperatures and operate quench.
o Monitor all aspects of the process, including dew point, vacuum level, and temperature ramp/hold time.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
o Complete records, logs, non-conformance reports, and production reports.
5. Maintenance and Safety:
o Locate and repair vacuum, argon, and oil leaks.
o Troubleshoot furnace issues.
o Perform minor maintenance on equipment and maintain a clean work environment.
o Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
