MH5 Ltd is a privately owned business and proud franchisee of Hertz Australia, operating across multiple locations in Queensland. As our business continues to grow and evolve, we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to strengthen our finance function and support the next phase of growth.
About the role
The Financial Controller will lead the operational finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong governance and compliance across the business.
This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys ownership, accountability and partnering with operational leaders to deliver clear financial insight and control in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the finance operations function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and month-end processes.
* Prepare monthly management accounts, consolidated P&L reporting, balance sheet reviews and variance analysis.
* Deliver cashflow forecasting, treasury management and working capital controls.
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation obligations and regulatory reporting requirements (including BAS, GST, PAYG, FBT and IAS).
* Provide financial oversight and backup support for payroll processes, working collaboratively with HR.
* Manage budgets, forecasts and financial planning across monthly, quarterly and annual cycles.
* Monitor financial performance against budgets and KPIs, providing clear and actionable insights to senior leadership.
* Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, controls and workflows.
* Coordinate audit processes and liaise with external accountants, auditors and advisors.
The successful applicant will need:
* CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent).
* Demonstrated experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role.
* A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership position.
* Strong technical accounting, reporting and compliance capability.
* Experience leading and supporting finance teams in a multi-site or operational business environment.
* Essential experience leading and supporting finance teams in a multi-site or operational business environment.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into clear, practical insights.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
* Experience working with ERP and accounting systems such as Accumatica and/or MYOB, or similar platforms.
