The Team

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Anatomical Pathology department is staffed by Anatomical Pathologists, Anatomical Pathology Registrars, Scientists and Technicians. Staff work cohesively together as a team.

The Anatomical Pathology laboratory offers a comprehensive service across the disciplines of Histology and Cytology. It is also the statewide referral laboratory for Renal Biopsies.


The Role

* Experience in performing routine and specialised histological procedures on biopsy specimens including preparing tissue sections for further processing and examination.
* Prepare specialised gynaecological and non-gynaecological specimens, including the preparation of non-gynaecological specimens for cell block techniques and immunocytochemical procedures.
* Undertake training of less experienced staff in safe handling of chemicals, and the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation.


You will need:

* Awareness of laboratory safety requirements and procedures, including the safe handling and storage of chemicals
* Knowledge of histology and cytology technical principles and practices, including specimen preparation for examinations
* Demonstrated sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with members of a team

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$81,915 to $94,263 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

An Associate Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, or an equivalent qualification, appropriate to the nature of the work.
