Senior Technical Officer
Bring your hands-on technical skills to a key role supporting UniSC's Prosthetics and Orthotics program. You'll lead workshop operations, coordinating the design, fabrication, maintenance, and demonstration of P&O devices, while ensuring safe, efficient use of facilities for teaching, research, and community engagement.
The Opportunity

* Support academic staff, supervise a small technical team, and uphold compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
1. Academic Support:
o In consultation with the Team Leader and relevant academic staff, provide specialist in-class clinical and technical knowledge to support the delivery of learning activities within the Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) discipline.
o Support the delivery of practical training in P&O fabrication techniques and provide instruction and guidance to students in the P&O facilities.
o Manage volunteer client participation in alignment with curriculum requirements.
2. Technical Support:
o Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) teaching workshop through expert technical support, equipment maintenance and modification and compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
o Provide leadership in procurement, record-keeping and safety auditing to support effective and sustainable practices.
o Drive continuous improvement and team effectiveness by mentoring technical staff, contributing to program development and fostering a collaborative, inclusive and professional team culture.
o Work closely with the Paramedicine & Allied Health Technical Team Leader and support team operations through shared tasks and responsibilities.
About You
As a Senior Technical Officer, you will possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. You will be technically savvy, with the ability to navigate IT systems with ease and enhance collaboration and streamline processes.
Requirements
* Completion of a degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics or other relevant undergraduate qualification combined with at least 4 years subsequent experience in a tertiary health discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience.
* Demonstrated high-level of practical skills in prosthetic and orthotic fabrication including proficiency with standard industry tools and machinery and experience of managing an educational facility.
* Demonstrated leadership experience in a technical or operational environment, including the ability to supervise, mentor, and support staff to ensure effective day-to-day service delivery.
* Proven experience in implementing, monitoring and reporting on workplace health and safety compliance in alignment with current legislation.
* A strong track record of involvement in technical or health-based teams, with well-developed organisational and time management abilities.
