The Role:
Creating amazing ideas. Helping others create amazing ideas. Bringing those amazing ideas to life. And ensuring that the work we create is beautiful, impactful and makes a difference.
Specifically, what matters is:
1. Develop innovative, culture-changing, brand-building, entertaining, insightful ideas that make a difference. But you're not just an "ideas machine"; you're discerning and can pick the good ideas from the bad.
2. Be "a storyteller": you understand the power of words and stories and their ability to create emotion, entertain and inspire change. You bring ideas to life through compelling stories, impactful headlines and ear-capturing scripts.
3. Understanding how ideas connect: you can bring ideas to life through multiple channels and understand how they all connect with each other and with the audience.
4. You create and defend amazing ideas, though you understand that we are in the business of "commercial creativity". You interrogate briefs to understand where and when we can push the boundaries and ensure that ideas that you create have the best chance possible of being bought by the client.
5. Determine what content should be published and when, balancing creativity with relevance, accuracy and audience needs.
6. Review content meticulously for grammar, style and formatting, and ensure everything we publish stands up legally and factually.
7. Utilise strong research and technical writing skills to craft information-based material that is clear, credible and engaging.
8. Collaboration: you are open and inclusive with your time and ideas to raise the overall quality of our creative product.
9. Strategic thinking: You understand the overarching strategy of the clients and how creativity feeds into that strategy. You are aware of what effective creativity looks like and the balance that must be struck between creativity and commercials.
10. Client Engagement: Know how to pick your battles; recognising what an idea needs to succeed and what will damage it - as opposed to how you would prefer it to be. Listen to client needs and find a way to answer them so the idea isn't compromised, and everyone wins. Be an invaluable, adaptable problem solver.
11. Presentation skills: You're confident in your ideas and comfortable presenting them to clients. You are calm and well prepared and able to think on your feet.
12. You: You take control of your career development. You do what you need to, to make sure you do an excellent job but speak up early when you need help or feel like your life is becoming unbalanced (mentally, emotionally, physically or socially)
Essential Skills/Experience:
1. Solid experience in a creative/social/digital agency or client side role
2. Proven and demonstrated ability to complete tasks listed in role description
3. Tertiary education in Marketing, Advertising, Digital or Production, or equivalent on the job training beyond outlined experience
4. Ability to self-manage across several projects and under tight deadlines
5. Be adaptable to shifting priorities
6. High level of communication skills for communicating expectations
7. A passion for creativity in advertising and marketing
8. A desire to learn and build up skills, we will support growth goals
9. Great energy levels and a positive attitude
10. Knowledge of Google Business Suite and WorkBook is an advantage
Who is Connecting Plots?
Everything a brand does tells a story and we believe the most successful brands are those who connect their story perfectly across everything they do. That's where we fit in.
We're an Effie awarded creative agency who connect all the plots in a brand's story by combining brand, media, creative and production thinking under one roof.
A Creative Agency Where Old Meets New…
Sometimes to pioneer the future we must look back to what's worked in the past.
We're a motley crew of old school thinkers and new world dreamers. A deliberate blend of advertising, entertainment, media, digital and production people who apply proven advertising practices with new media thinking to make every nook and cranny of the marketing mix work as hard as possible.
It's why we care as much about great EDM's as we do about making great ads.
Why Work With Us?
We promise that when your time at Connecting Plots comes to an end you'll be better off for it. You'll see the world and the industry from a different perspective. You'll become obsessed with business impact through brilliant imaginative ideas that are brought to life perfectly in every single impression.
You'll enjoy every day in a high performing team that genuinely wants to change the industry for the better and cares for nothing more than making great work with great results. If you want to work for an agency that prioritises awards over results or the happiness of people then we're not the place for you.
We have official partnerships with all the major platforms such as Google / YouTube (aka the internet), Meta, Snap and TikTok. This means we're always on the edge of what's next (and we all know these guys love an update). We also have an always on approach to development and training across all departments.
We're a values led culture with a commitment to creating a culture of freedom and responsibility. We're 3 days in - 2 days at home. And that's important. We're a creative business and we need to be together to solve things. But not all the time. Work from home time is for getting stuff done with mandatory, company wide internal meeting block-outs.
We think of ourselves as a pro-sports team and we know that recovery days are just as important as game day. Every player, in every position is critical to the game.
