The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity exists for a Research Analysts to join our specialist Retail Economics Advisory Practice Group within Urbis' broader Economics & Property team baes in Sydney!
As a Research Analyst this role will support the team by undertaking research mainly in the retail precinct and mixed-use sectors, although an ability to be work across residential, office and industrial sectors would be beneficial. There is a requirement to deliver quality research, modelling, data visualisation, report writing and presentation content on a range of consulting assignments for our property clients.
Type of Work:
You will be expected to:
- Undertake field research to gain a thorough understanding of local context and issues.
- Undertake background research for projects, using your own initiative to find resources.
- Obtain data and knowledge from a wide range of sources and networks.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research across a variety of economic and property-related topics
- Collaborate with peers across Urbis and Cistri, including other business units and sub-consultants
- Proactively maintain and enhance our proprietary databases.
- Provide analysis of most inputs and components of analysis, including demographics, spending behaviour, competitor analysis, demand drivers, property performance benchmarking, spatial analysis, employment analysis, tourism assessments, market share analysis, rent and turnover analyses, and market forecasts.
- Analyse data using tools such as GIS, Excel, Power BI, and AI platforms
- Assist in preparing client-facing reports, presentations, and proposals
- Communicate findings clearly and confidently to internal stakeholders and clients
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications in Property Economics, Economics, Econometrics, Economic Geography, Commerce, Business, Finance, or a related field
- Robust analytical and data interpretation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- An eye for detail and commitment to accuracy
- A proactive, collaborative attitude and excellent communication skills
- Interest or experience in the retail and mixed-use property sectors
Bonus points for experience with GIS, Power BI, AI tools, or economic modelling platforms.
