A Full-time Horticultural Field Supervisor is available in Cairns, **** QLD
QUALIFICATIONS
A relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate IV or higher; and
Have at least two years of on-the job training.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Horticultural Field Supervisor, you are responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of the farm operations. Your role includes ensuring tasks such as cultivation, irrigation, harvesting, and equipment maintenance are carried out effectively and efficiently. You will also be responsible for promoting a safe working environment, assigning appropriate duties, and coordinating workflow. As the Horticultural Supervisor, your leadership will directly contribute to the overall productivity and success of the business.
POSITION DUTIES
Work closely with the Field Activities Manager and Farm Manager to oversee field operations related to planting, cultivation, irrigation, and harvest of fruit, ensuring all activities align with organisational procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Policies, and Food Safety and Quality requirements.
Liaise with Field Activities Manager and Farm Manager to coordinate/supervise harvest and field schedules and priorities.
Supervise field crew to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and within required timeframes, while ensuring appropriate use of resources.
Manage tools, equipment and labour to ensure all resources are suitable for assigned tasks and used effectively.
Maintain accurate harvest records and other required operational documentation.
Oversee the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of agricultural machinery and equipment.
Undertake daily pre-operational safety checks and carry out minor maintenance on farm infrastructure, reporting any major repair needs to the Workshop Manager.
Coordinate and supervise daily work routines and operational tasks to support smooth and productive field operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
Strong knowledge of field operations, including relevant workplace health and safety requirements.
Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
Well-developed problem-solving skills, including the capacity to identify issues, analyse situations, and implement practical solutions in a supervisory environment.
SALARY
$65,000 to $75,000 based on experience
