The Mobile Apps Team specializes in Android and iOS application development, responsible for the development and enhancement of the Service NSW mobile apps and digital licenses within these apps.

About the role
You will support the development of the mobile app and digital license products within an agile product team, contributing to the development of reliable and scalable customer-facing applications and backend systems.
Key responsibilities include
* Assist in the development, technical design, deployment, and operation of features and improvements.
* Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and leadership to maintain high quality in a fast-paced environment.
* Drive efficiency by designing scalable products, reducing duplication, and optimizing pipelines.
Your skills and experience
* Strong software engineering background with experience in full stack development and exposure to various technologies.
* Experience or interest in Extreme Programming practices like TDD and Pair Programming.
* Excellent understanding of systems thinking and technical design, especially in large ecosystems.
* Security-minded with a passion for security by design.
* Customer-focused with effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficient in mobile application development, with a passion for creating excellent mobile experiences.
Your technical skills
* Proficient in modern programming languages and frameworks such as Kotlin, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Golang, and testing frameworks.
* Experience in frontend and backend application development, including API design and cloud storage technologies.
* Knowledge of deploying containerized infrastructure in cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
* Mobile frontend development skills with React Native, Android, or iOS tech stacks.
How we work
We use XP practices (TDD, pair programming, CI/CD) to build and release software quickly, focusing on iterative delivery and customer responsiveness. Our teams collaborate to design solutions within a complex ecosystem.
Support office roles are based across McKell, Parramatta, and Gosford, with flexibility for other locations where operationally feasible.
Salary
Service NSW Grade 7/8, starting at $102,899 plus superannuation.
