The Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia (NMHPA) is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of nurses, midwives, and students of these professions by offering a free, confidential, and compassionate peer-to-peer counselling and health support service. About the Role
NMHPA is recruiting for a part time Registered Nurse for the Clinician role at our Brisbane office to provide peer-to-peer counselling and general health support to nurses, midwives, and students of the professions engaging with our service.
Reporting to the Eastern Regional Coordinator, this role is responsible for intake and assessment, care planning, ongoing monitoring, and coordination of support based on individual needs. You will work with participants experiencing a range of health and wellbeing challenges and support referral to appropriate practitioners and specialist services where required.
This role supports participants nationally via telehealth, face to face and telephone consultations. Interstate and intrastate travel may be required from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond professionally to enquiries, conduct intake and assessment, and determine appropriate pathways of care.
* Provide peer-to-peer counselling, general health support, and care coordination to participants of the program.
* Develop, implement, and review individualised care plans in partnership with participants.
* Monitor participant progress, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in case conferencing.
* Engage in regular external clinical supervision, team reviews, and progress meetings with the Regional Coordinator.
* Contribute to service promotion, education, and reducing stigma around health impairment.
* Support strategic development, including contributing to policy and procedure development.
* Offer support and clinical guidance to NMHPA peers as required.
* Build and maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues, participants, and external stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience & Capabilities
* Current Ahpra registration as a registered nurse.
* Post graduate Mental Health qualifications.
* Demonstrated capability in health assessment, risk identification, care coordination, case management, and safety planning to support best outcomes.
* Demonstrated high levels of professional integrity, with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information discreetly and ethically.
* Proven capacity to work autonomously while maintaining accountability and professional standards.
* Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and relevant IT systems.
Desirable
* Postgraduate qualification in counselling, drug and alcohol, family violence or related fields.
* Training in Counselling Skills, Motivational Interviewing, ACT, or Reflective Practice.
Personal Attributes
* Demonstrated high levels of professional integrity, with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information discreetly and ethically.
* Demonstrates composure, careful consideration, and professionalism when dealing with stressful situations.
* Strong initiative, autonomous, adaptable, and well developed problem-solving skills.
