Our client, a large business in the infrastructure and utilities sector, is seeking an experienced Category Manager to join its collaborative procurement and supply chain team. This role is essential in developing and delivering innovative category strategies across a range of indirect spend categories, driving value and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement lifecycle category plans for diverse indirect categories (such as professional services, contingent labour, IT, Energy, facilities, and more), creating measurable impact and supporting core business services.
Lead end‑to‑end sourcing, negotiate commercial contracts, and manage supplier relationships to drive continuous improvement and sustainability.
Collaborate with business stakeholders and external networks to identify needs, optimise spend, and provide best‑practice procurement consultancy.
Apply analytics and market insights to inform strategy, deliver value, and identify efficiencies in indirect procurement.
Proactively manage risk and compliance, while embedding robust ESG principles in sourcing decisions.
About You
Degree in business, procurement, supply chain or similar; advanced procurement credentials highly valued (e.g., MCIPS or equivalent).
5‑10 years’ strategic procurement/category management experience, with significant exposure to indirect categories and proven results in complex environments.
Strong commercial acumen, analytical mindset, and ability to communicate and build partnerships at every organisational level.
Adept at leading cross‑functional teams, managing projects, and introducing innovation or technology into procurement process.
Skilled in data‑driven decision‑making and proficient with procurement or ERP systems.
