What you’ll be doing In this dynamic role, you’ll have the opportunity to: Lead and inspire a team of four professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance across finance and operational functions. Bridge strategic vision with operational excellence by aligning strategic financial planning with day-to-day hospital activities to support efficient and effective service delivery. Drive financial stewardship through comprehensive planning, analysis, and reporting of financial resources, including monitoring the hospital budget and key performance indicators. Take ownership of selected nonclinical operational areas, including (but not limited to) patient administration, Mercy Linen, and hotel services. Shape the future by supporting and influencing Mater Health and Corporate functions and strategies that operate outside the local hospital structure, such as Digital Technology Information, engineering and Health Information Management. Collaborate at the highest level with the Mater Health Leadership Team to support broader Mater initiatives and cross-ministry integration, including with Mater Education and Mater Research. Be a trusted advisor, providing strategic and operational advice to leaders across both health service delivery and corporate service areas to strengthen organisational performance and sustainability. Championing innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and collaboration to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality, patient-centred care. About you You will tertiary qualifications in business related or accounting, commerce or finance discipline, professional standing for current membership or eligibility for membership of a recognised Australian accounting body. Proven leadership and management experience within a hospital or healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of clinical and operational environments. Sound knowledge of healthcare funding models, including both public and private hospital frameworks. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all staff and build collaborative working relationships across diverse teams. A deep understanding of business operations and key drivers of value within the healthcare sector. Extensive experience in budget and financial management, including the development and implementation of policies, systems, internal controls, and reporting frameworks at a senior leadership level. Demonstrated expertise in preparing and evaluating complex business cases and funding submissions, developing pricing models, and providing high-level strategic advice on budgeting and economic evaluation. A strong track record in performance management, with the ability to ensure services meet required standards and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs). Proven leadership experience in managing operational service managers and multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
