The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for a full-time Senior Process Engineer - Mechatronic based in our Sydney, Macquarie office. In this role, the successful Senior Process Engineer will ensure the viability of Cochlear's manufacturing processes by implementing stable, scalable, and reliable solutions. You will be responsible for the development and introduction of automated manufacturing technologies, ensuring project deliverables are met on time and within budget.
Responsibilities include:
* Implement reliable mechatronic or automated manufacturing processes.
* Support supply chain and R&D projects with safe and scalable solutions.
* Ensure compliance with Cochlear QMS and international regulations.
* Meet manufacturing strategy by relocating/duplicating processes as needed.
* Review and improve compliance and project/launch outcomes.
* Align manufacturing technologies with Cochlear's long-term strategy.
* Collaborate with process technology team to develop and test new product concepts.
* Develop and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, schematics, testing protocols and reports.
* Execute machine validation activities e.g. IQ, OQ, and PQ.
* Lead root cause analysis and propose solutions for timely project delivery.
* Maintain strong relationships with other internal teams and external partners.
* Work with global supply chain stakeholders to mitigate delivery risks.
* Provide guidance to junior Engineers where required.

* Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical or Electrical Engineering.
* 5+ years in a similar engineering role within a highly regulated industry
* Experience in either process development or mechanical design.
* Experience developing and introducing manufacturing processes.
* Experience in risk management methodology.
* Experience in validation and verification of manufacturing processes.
Ideal:
* Experience introducing automation and vision systems in medical device manufacturing.
* Sound knowledge and skills in lean manufacturing, automation, manufacturing processes and continuous improvement
* Experience leading Root-cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives and experience with the tools associated
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work closely with others
