About this role
This exciting opportunity exists for a research professional to join our team and contribute to high-impact research in defence materials and structures. The successful applicant will be part of a collaborative partnership between RMIT and the Defence Science and Technology Group, working on large-scale structural testing of aircraft components.
As a key member of the research team, you will support the chief investigator in delivering high-quality reports, preparing publications, and helping to share the findings through conferences and journals. Your experience and expertise will play a crucial role in advancing the research program and achieving its goals.
To succeed in this role, you will require evidence of research output, including publications, conference contributions, and/or technical reports in the field. You should also have experience and/or understanding of structures and materials testing, preferably large-scale testing. In addition, you will need to demonstrate your ability to work autonomously while displaying a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners. They will also be able to build effective networks and generate alternative funding projects through liaison with industry and government.
About the benefits
This full-time or part-time position offers a competitive salary package, including Academic Level A ($77,649 -$105,323 p.a. pro rata) or Level B ($110,868 -$131,659 p.a. pro rata), plus 17% Superannuation. The role is based at the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) in Port Melbourne, with opportunities to work from other campuses of the University as required.
