From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.Position Title: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement WorkerLocation: Townsville Recovery Services, GarbuttEmployment Type: Full-time, Part-time or Job Share availableClassification: SCHADS Level 4.1 with flexibility depending on experienceAbout the Role:We are seeking a dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Worker to join our Townsville Recovery Services, supporting the AOD Adult and Youth Residential Rehabilitation Centres.This key role provides vital cultural support to participants, strengthens partnerships with Indigenous organisations and Elders, and contributes to culturally safe and inclusive service delivery across Queensland.Key Responsibilities:Provide culturally appropriate support to participants of the AOD Adult and Youth Residential Rehabilitation Centres.Build and strengthen relationships with Indigenous Elders, community organisations, and referral pathways.Actively participate in management discussions to embed cultural perspectives into service delivery, contribute to internal meetings, case reviews, and stakeholder reporting.Collaborate with Centre Managers to enhance cultural competency and improve the experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples at service sites.Develop and share relevant cultural resources and training materials in line with the Cultural Capability and Competency Framework,.Offer cultural insight and support to clinical teams to ensure participant case plans are culturally informed, as well as carry a small caseload and facilitate programs where required.You must have:Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (This is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991).Relevant tertiary qualifications in AOD, Community Services, or Case Management.Proven experience engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and service providers.Strong understanding of current issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.Demonstrated ability to provide culturally appropriate responses to complex and diverse community needs.Ability to influence and advise leaders in culturally safe practice.Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) is required.Drivers licenceThe Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people.
