Workplace Health & Safety Officer – Job Share
Mackay Regional Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Workplace Health and Safety Officer to join our team. This role will be temporary job share for a period of 12 months with 7.25 hours per day on Mondays, Tuesday’s and Wednesdays. 21 Hours per week
About this opportunity:
The successful candidate for the Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Officer role will be responsible for supporting the operation, security, and maintenance of the Council’s safety systems. Under general supervision, the WHS Officer will offer technical support and advice related to workplace health and safety administration.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical support and advice relating to workplace health and safety administration.
* Assist in the administration, operation, security, and maintenance of safety systems.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policies.
* Promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
* Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs.
* Support the Rehabilitation and Return to Work program.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
* Previous experience in providing support regarding the administration, operation, security, and maintenance of safety systems.
* Current qualifications in Information Technology or Workplace Health & Safety.
* Strong technical knowledge of workplace health and safety systems.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently under general direction.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Commitment to promoting a safe working environment.
Candidates who hold QLD Driver’s Licence and Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator qualifications will be highly regarded.
