RESPONSIBILITIES
* WAMN News Online is seeking a part-time cadet position for an online/video journalist. This position is aimed at second and third-year journalism students who are seeking to gain experience, but journalism graduates are also encouraged to apply.
* Reporting to the editor of WAMN News Perth, you will be responsible for producing video news stories for our weekly online broadcast "Sunday Evening News & WP", written stories for the website and social media content.
* Applicants are expected to have a good understanding of local current affairs, particularly issues affecting younger audiences in Perth & WA.
* Written, broadcast, and social media experience are essential. Journalism students are more than welcome to apply if they have relevant news experience, or seeking skills development.
SKILLS REQUIRED
* Strong English language skills (for print/online, broadcast and copywriting)
* Sound knowledge of local current affairs and youth topics
* Strong social media skills for online journalism content creation (including SEO, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok)
* On-camera presentation and articulation
* Ability to work as a team member or solo
* Strong initiative, patience, and work under pressure
* Filming, video editing and event management skills will be a plus (Not mandatory).
