We are an award-winning Vitamin/Dietary supplement manufacturing business looking to for an experienced Senior Research and Development Scientist to join our team. Located in a purpose-built, TGA licensed facility on Sydney's Northern Beaches, our business supplies ingredients globally across the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.
TheResearch & Development (R&D;) Scientist is responsible for conducting research and development activities related to pharmaceutical formulations and manufacturing processes. This role involves formulation development, analytical testing, process optimisation, and compliance with industry.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D;, formulation development, or analytical sciences.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements (TGA, ICH, GMP).
- Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, and dissolution testing.
- Experience with prototype to production scale up in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with product stability studies and formulation optimisation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Tasks & responsibilities
- Conduct research and development activities for pharmaceutical formulations, including pre-formulation studies, prototype development, and stability testing in accordance with project timeline and objectives.
- Lead research projects from conception through implementation, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and regulatory requirements
- Ensure all work complies with regulatory and quality standards.
- Design and execute experiments to optimise product formulations and manufacturing processes.
- Perform analytical testing using techniques such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR and dissolution testing to assess product quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Manufacturing to ensure seamless product development.
- Prepare technical reports, research documentation, and regulatory submissions in compliance with TGA and international guidelines.
- Evaluate and implement innovative technologies and raw materials to enhance product efficacy and stability.
- Support technology transfer from R&D; to commercial manufacturing, ensuring scalability and reproducibility.
- Ensure documentation of research activities is accurately up-dated in a timely manner.
- Mentor junior chemists and interns in order to foster a culture of scientific vigour and innovation within the team.
- Plan, manage and implement scale up of design from bench prototypes to full production environments
- Stay updated with industry trends, scientific advancements, and regulatory requirements to drive continuous improvement.

- Experience in Complementary Health industry is preferred, or alternatively in a similar Manufacturing Industry (e.g. pharmaceutical).
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of GMP and the TGA's (Therapeutic Goods Administration) related guidelines
- Understand production processes and development limitations
- Able to work autonomously as part of a small team
