We are an award-winning not‐for‐profit homelessness support service and community housing provider with a mission to end homelessness in our community. Through housing, health, crisis intervention, social inclusion, and specialist support services, we walk alongside people at every stage of their journey.
We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Child & Adolescent Assertive Case Worker to join our Family Support Program.
About the Role
This is a unique outreach‐based role focused on supporting children and young people (0–17 years) experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Working alongside our Family Support team, you will provide child‐centred, trauma‐informed and culturally safe support to children and adolescents living in highly vulnerable situations, including rough sleeping, unsafe accommodation, family and domestic violence environments, and entrenched disadvantage.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about child wellbeing, advocacy, and working creatively and assertively to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families.
What You'll Be Doing
* Providing assertive outreach and intensive case management to children and young people
* Undertaking child‐centred assessments and care planning
* Supporting children's safety, wellbeing, development, education and health needs
* Advocating within education, health, child protection and community systems
* Working collaboratively with families and internal support teams
* Delivering trauma‐informed, culturally safe and strengths‐based support
* Building engagement with children and families who may be disconnected from services
* Maintaining case notes, reporting and documentation requirements
* Participating in reflective practice, supervision and team collaboration
About You
You are someone who:
* Is passionate about supporting children, young people and families
* Can build trust and rapport in complex and challenging situations
* Works in a calm, flexible and trauma‐informed way
* Understands the impacts of homelessness, trauma, family violence and poverty on children and adolescents
* Is confident working autonomously in outreach settings while also being a strong team player
* Values cultural safety, inclusion and child‐centred practice
* Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a related child‐focused discipline
* Experience supporting children and young people with complex needs
* Demonstrated case management experience, ideally within homelessness, housing, child or family services
* Strong knowledge of child safeguarding and relevant service systems
* Excellent communication, advocacy and relationship‐building skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities in outreach environments
* Competency using Microsoft Office and client management systems
* Understanding of diversity, inclusion and Aboriginal cultural awareness
