Adelaide
Bendigo Bank

Offer description

Overview

We've never been 'just a bank'. Just like you should never be 'just an employee'. We're united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we're making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank... and you.

Come and be part of a landmark transformation of our Financial Crime Risk (FCR) function. As we build a best-in-class financial crime second line of accountability, this is a unique opportunity to provide critical oversight, strategic direction, and effective challenge, to detect, deter and disrupt all types of financial crime and help protect our bank, our customers, and our communities. We are currently recruiting multiple driven and experienced leaders to join this enhanced function.

You'll love the good you can do here. In these pivotal leadership roles: Senior Managers, Heads of and Deputy MRLO, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of financial crime risk management at Bendigo Bank. You will help develop and embed a proactive, intelligence-led risk management framework that enables the bank to achieve its goals safely and soundly.

As a leader in our Financial Crime Risk Department, you'll make an impact by:

* Developing and implementing the strategic direction for financial crime risk management.
* Providing expert advice and effective challenge to the first line of accountability to uplift our overall financial crime risk management maturity.
* Leading, mentoring, and inspiring a team of dedicated risk professionals.
* Driving a culture of continuous improvement and proactive risk identification.

About the Role

The Executive, FCR reports to Chief Compliance and Financial Crime Officer (and MLRO)

* Strategic Leadership: Align the bank's strategy with the management of financial crime risks, shaping policy, governance, and the transformation of the function.
* Performance Oversight: Take ownership of the financial crime risk management framework, including policies, controls, reporting, and risk assessments for areas like AML/CTF, Sanctions, and Fraud.
* Risk Management: Drive the group-wide financial crime risk profile, escalate emerging risks, and challenge the business to ensure risk management standards are met.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement the financial crime strategy and represent the bank in key industry and regulatory forums.

What you'll bring to the role

* Proven leadership experience within a Financial Crime Risk (2nd Line) function at a reputable financial institution.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic business and transformation plans.
* Deep knowledge of the regulatory environment (including AML/CTF, Sanctions, and Fraud) and direct exposure to regulatory processes.
* Forward thinking with ability to ignite potential, elevate performance, and deliver a compelling vision at all levels of the organisation.
* Tertiary qualifications in law, commerce, accounting, economics or other related discipline are essential.

Highly desirable

* Professional qualifications are highly desirable e.g. ACAMS, CFA, AFCS

Location: Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide, Sydney, or Brisbane with flexible hybrid options.

Permanent full-time position.

This isn\'t just another role, it\'s a reinvention. As part of a smaller, dynamic team, you\'ll gain unparalled exposure and experience. You\'ll do more, learn more, and grow more, with direct access to key leaders. If you are a resilient and driven leader who wants to make a tangible impact and build something exceptional, this is your opportunity.

We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.

Still in two minds?

Research suggests 60% of women and underrepresented groups might stop here, even after getting as far as drafting an application. We believe that diversity makes every team stronger, so even if you don't tick every box we still want to see your application!

We're making better, bigger. And we'll get there with you.

Now's the time to set your sights even higher – on the future you and the future career you deserve.
