Key Roles in Medical Device Reform
The UDI Project implements a key medical device reform: establishing Australia’s Unique Device Identification system and assisting its adoption by Australian healthcare.
This initiative enables the tracking of high-risk implanted devices, such as those in safety crises including hip implants, urogynaecological mesh, and breast implants, from supply through implantation and use.
To deliver this outcome, the UDI Project team will implement policy-related changes, build a database for data storage, engage with sponsors, integrate UDI into related processes, and support sector-wide adoption.
* Building and managing the database
* Engaging with sponsors of medical devices
* Integrating UDI into related processes at the TGA
* Supporting sector-wide adoption of the UDI system
