* Salary Package – LHI Officer Grade 6 - $102,962 to $120,156 p.a plus 12% superannuation
* Temporary Full Time (38 hours per week) opportunity - 3 years from date of commencement
* Location - Lord Howe Island




About the role



The Human Resources Officer manages a diverse range of functions to support senior management and staff at the Lord Howe Island Board. The role is responsible for the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment, inductions, performance planning and review, training and administration to offboarding, in conjunction with senior management.



To be successful in this role you will:

* Have an in depth knowledge of relevant HR legislation and policy.
* Display proven experience in stakeholder consultation.
* Demonstrate an ability to respond to sensitive matters within tight timeframes and manage multiple activities from various stakeholders with completing priorities.
* Be a helpful and supportive team player.

Knowledge and experience
* Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end recruitment, employee relations workforce reporting and generalist HR functions.
* Strong understanding of NSW Government employment legislation, awards, and policies.
* Experience advising senior leaders and providing high quality reports and analysis.
* Strong relationship management, influencing, and negotiation skills.
* Excellent communication (written/oral), problem-solving, and customer service skills.

Who we are



Lord Howe Island is located in the South Pacific Ocean approximately 700km north east of Sydney and is part of NSW. The Island has a high proportion of rare and endemic birds, plants, and invertebrates, and has the southernmost coral reef in the world. Three-quarters of the Island is within the Permanent Park Preserve, which is managed similarly to a national park. There are approximately 445 residents and tourism is the major industry and source of income on the Island. Approximately 16,000 people visit the Island each year and there are 21 accommodation lodges.



The Lord Howe Island Board (the Board) is a statutory authority established under the provisions of the Lord Howe Island Act. The Board is responsible to the NSW Minister for the Environment and comprises four Islanders elected by the local community and three members appointed by the Minister. It is charged with the care, control and management of the Island and the affairs and trade of the Island. It is also responsible for the care, improvement and welfare of the Island and residents. “Island” as defined by the Act includes Lord Howe Island and all adjacent islands and coral reefs within one marine league of the Island. Ball’s Pyramid and adjacent islands are also included in this definition.



The Lord Howe Island Board is part of the Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water cluster. Lord Howe Island Board members of staff are employed under section 21 of the Government Sector Employment and Management Act by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
