This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced legal professional to take on a leadership role in delivering high quality legal services to vulnerable and disadvantaged people. As a Senior Principal Lawyer, you will report directly to the Executive Director, Regional Services and will lead a busy multi-disciplinary team providing efficient and effective services to the community. Key Details: * This position is Temporary Full time for 12 months with the possibility of extension * This is a Family Law position. * Reimbursement or payment of relocation costs may be considered on appointment of successful applicant in accordance with the Domestic Travelling and Appointment Expenses Directive 11/11. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the following: * Lead, monitor and report on the operational performance of the office and ensure compliance with all professional and corporate responsibilities. * Lead a large, multi-disciplinary team of professional and administrative staff including the provision of performance management and feedback, recruitment, staff development, conflict management, leave management and other human resource activities. * Co-ordinate and provide high level advice, direction and guidance about family law including child protection and domestic and family violence services to inhouse lawyers and external professionals and act as an expert source of advice on complex, sensitive or high profile legal matters. * Represent clients in family law matters, including preparing matters, instructing counsel and personally appearing as an advocate. * Undertake the provision of duty lawyer services within field of expertise. * Lead policy, procedure and legal service delivery initiatives for Regional Services and undertake projects as directed by the Executive Director, Regional Services. * Support Legal Aid Queensland's contributions to policy, procedure, law reform and legal service delivery initiatives of state and national significance. * Represent Regional Services in internal and external forums and maintain networks with relevant external stakeholders in the community and the justice system. * Provide, and engage others to provide, continuing professional development to Legal Aid Queensland staff and external stakeholders on family law and related law issues. * Manage resource allocation to ensure costs are contained within budget parameters. About You: * You have experience in managing a large multi-disciplinary legal team including monitoring activities against performance targets. You contribute to improvements in policy and operational practices and have broad knowledge of human resource functions. * You have experience in the conduct of complex family law matters including child protection and domestic and family violence and have been involved in policy development and law reform. * You have knowledge of the practice and procedure of family law including child protection and domestic and family violence, evidence and ethics. You are also committed to self-development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the law and procedure. * You communicate in a clear, concise and articulate manner, offer convincing rationale, negotiate persuasively and engage effectively with stakeholders including clients with complex needs using the principles of trauma informed practice.
