The role of Domestic Violence Specialist Advocate involves providing legal advice and representation to women affected by domestic and family violence. This includes assisting clients with tenancy issues, representing them in SACAT applications, and liaising with SAPOL to support women in reporting breaches.
Key responsibilities also include connecting clients with the right legal and support services, designing and delivering training programs on identifying coercive control, and guiding clients toward help.
This is a statewide service providing legal assistance for women impacted by domestic and family violence. As a specialist advocate, you will work autonomously and as part of a team to achieve organisational goals.
You will need to engender trust and confidence with clients and stakeholders, providing concise legal advice and assessments. Key skills required for this role include strong communication and advocacy skills, as well as the ability to work with diverse client groups.
Beyond providing direct legal assistance, this role also involves supporting education and prevention initiatives. You will design and deliver training programs on domestic violence and its legal implications, working collaboratively with other agencies and community organisations.
