We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Service Field Technician to join our team, specializing in the maintenance, repair, and commissioning of advanced cooling systems for critical applications. We are a young, growing business that is dedicated to providing high-end process cooling equipment to our clients. Working for a leading equipment manufacturer, this field-based role includes specialist equipment installations and regular planned travel across Australia and New Zealand for equipment commissioning. Our work focus is of critical nature to support water chillers and process cooling units (PCUs or CRAC units), ensuring reliable 24/7 operation in demanding environments.
Hourly Rate:
$50–$60 AUD per hour, depending on skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Field Maintenance & Repair
2. Perform preventive maintenance on water chillers and process cooling units to optimize performance and extend lifespan.
3. Diagnose and repair refrigeration systems on-site, ensuring minimal downtime for mission-critical operations.
4. Respond promptly to emergency service requests, prioritizing system functionality and client satisfaction.
5. Perform general system inspections, refrigeration system management, and electrical troubleshooting as part of routine service.
6. Commissioning
7. Commission water chillers and air- and water-cooled process cooling systems (PCUs or CRAC units) at client locations.
8. This is one of our highest-priority responsibilities, ensuring manufacturer specific equipment is set up correctly from the start to deliver reliable and efficient operation.
9. Test system components, calibrate controls, and verify compliance with operational specifications during startup.
10. Performance Optimization
11. Utilize diagnostic tools and monitoring software to evaluate and enhance system performance.
12. Analyze operational data, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements to maximize energy efficiency and reliability.
13. Provide recommendations for system upgrades or modifications to meet evolving client needs.
14. Installation of Process Cooling Solutions
15. Install process cooling systems, including our in-house manufactured equipment, at client locations.
16. Collaborate with the engineering and installation teams to ensure seamless integration of new systems into existing setups.
17. Verify compliance with all safety and operational standards during the installation process.
18. Client Interaction & Support
19. Support client needs and develop strong working relationships.
20. Liase with clients, addressing operational concerns and delivering excellent service.
21. Provide on-site training and guidance to clients regarding proper system operation and maintenance practices.
22. Compliance & Reporting
23. Maintain accurate service records, including maintenance logs, repair reports, and regulatory documentation.
24. Comply with environmental regulations and industry standards concerning refrigerants and system safety.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience:
* Minimum of 3–5 years as a field technician working with industrial refrigeration systems, including water chillers and process cooling units (PCUs or CRAC units).
* Experience in medical facilities, IT data centers, or food processing environments is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
* Proficient in diagnosing and repairing complex refrigeration systems, including water-cooled and air-cooled equipment.
* Familiarity with HVAC controls, refrigerant handling, and electrical systems.
* Skilled in reading technical schematics, blueprints, and service manuals.
Certifications:
* Cert 3 in Air - Conditioning and Refrigeration.
* Restricted Electrical.
* Refrigeration Handling License.
Other Requirements:
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Willingness to travel frequently to client sites, including regular planned travel across Australia and New Zealand, and participate in an on-call rotation for 24/7 support.
* Valid Passport.
