Naval Warfare Specialist Role

We are seeking a seasoned Naval Warfare Specialist to contribute to the development of high-end naval training and synthetic warfighting activities.

This specialist will work in close partnership with the Australian Defence Force and Fleet Force Generation Directorate, providing expert advice, exercise design leadership, and execution support across live, virtual, and constructive training environments.

The position involves leading the development of complex exercise scenarios, supporting Force Generation Littoral Combat and Synthetic Training Exercises, and contributing to the evolution of Royal Australian Navy synthetic warfighting capability.


Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and support the design, planning, and execution of Force Generation Littoral Combat and Synthetic exercises.
* Manage and support Force Generation STX Exercises and collective training activities.
* Advise on Post Activity Report (PAR) development and implement remedial actions.
* Provide subject matter expertise as part of the Maritime Observer Trainer Team (MOTT).
* Develop exercise administrative requirements and lead the design of LVC scenarios aligned with higher-level training objectives.
* Oversee the development of constructive exercise elements including domain environments, OPFOR, neutrals, and friendly forces.
* Lead EXCON elements during execution phases to meet STX training objectives.
* Conduct after-action reviews and implement exercise improvement actions based on lessons learned.
* Represent Royal Australian Navy interests in single service, joint, and international warfare training and synthetic warfighting working groups.
* Research and support the development of additional LVC training opportunities, including advising on technical capability evolution and interoperability with joint and allied partners.


Requirements:

* Previous military experience as a Naval Principal Warfare Officer or equivalent.
* PWO Course (desirable), Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Officer experience, Long-Range Missile Defence, or Aviation Warfare experience.
* Operational experience and prior involvement in joint planning or execution.
* Experience as an Observer / Trainer is highly desirable.


Conditions of Employment:

* Successful completion of a National Police Check.
* Possession and maintenance of a valid security clearance (minimum NV1 standard).
