Overview
Heidelberg Materials Australia have an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join the aggregates team at our NATA Accredited Laboratory based at the Bass Point Quarry, located within the Illawarra region of NSW.
We are seeking a self-motivated candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is physically fit and possesses a solid work ethic.
This is not your usual white coat lab role! You’ll be out in the field in your high vis and PPE, sampling and testing as well as working within the Quarry Laboratory.
The successful applicant will have impeccable customer focus and be highly motivated and enthusiastic, be risk aware and safety driven.
This is an excellent opportunity to enter the construction industry in a full-time technical role within one of Australia\'s leading construction materials suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Perform quarry material testing – Aggregate & Soil
- Carry out equipment calibrations
- Ensure Laboratory NATA requirements are maintained
- Assist the technical team
Qualifications
- Excellent Health and Safety behaviours
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills (written & verbal)
- Physically fit
- A current driver’s licence
- Available to work weekends and regular overtime
- Professional work ethic
- Previous experience as a Laboratory Technician
- An ability to take ownership and manage your own area of responsibility without close supervision
- Customer focused and excellent attention to detail

- Great base hourly rate starting at $31.11, with higher rates up to $40.58 per hour depending on experience and competency level + OT, allowances & super
