About the Role
Located in Manjimup, 292 kms SE of Perth, the Bushfire Risk Management Officer (BRMO) is an integral member of the DFES Lower South West Team. The DFES Lower South West Region encompasses seven local government areas.
Working closely with the Lower South West DFES Team and local governments, including their Bushfire Risk Planning Coordinators and designated Emergency Management personnel, the BRMO facilitates and manages tenure‐blind bushfire risk management activities.
Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders to ensure bushfire risk to Western Australian communities is mitigated and managed.
The role promotes bushfire risk management practices and contributes to the continuous improvement of bushfire risk management services.
Leadership behaviours are applicable to this role and are expected to align with Personal Leadership principles.
Application Requirements
* Evidence of a current unrestricted C Class Western Australian driver's licence, valid for the duration of employment.
* Evidence of endorsement as a level 1 Incident Controller or equivalent skills and experience.
* Maximum two (2) page statement addressing essential criteria 3, 5 and 7 from the JDF in the context of the position responsibilities.
* Maximum five (5) page current comprehensive CV that clearly demonstrates relevant competencies and experiences, including the names of two referees.
* An example of a recent planned burn prescription authored.
Eligibility
You must be an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency.
National Police Certificate
Applicants must provide a current National Police Certificate, less than three months old, prior to commencement.
Choice of Superannuation
The Fire and Emergency Services (Superannuation Fund) Regulations 1986 prevents DFES from offering choice of super for permanent appointments. Those appointed permanently may either remain with their existing GESB superannuation account or join the Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Fund.
Employment Conditions
DFES is an emergency services organisation and employees may be required to work or travel outside normal business hours, including participation in an on‐call roster. Regular weekends and evenings may be required.
