We are seeking a capable and community‐minded Insurance Officer to join Council's Governance and Legal Department. In this role, you will manage a broad range of insurance claims, contribute to risk and assurance activities, and help deliver fair, timely and well‐informed outcomes for Council and the community.

Key responsibilities
The primary role of the Insurance Officer is to process claims made against Council. Claims can include damage from Council trees and trucks, personal injury, water flow, and professional liability. You will investigate incidents, draft correspondence, and advocate for outcomes in the best interest of Council and the community. You will also manage some court claims, assisting Council's insurer and their lawyers. Additionally, you will coordinate the discovery process for litigated claims and manage Freedom of Information requests.
As part of the Risk and Assurance team within Council's Governance and Legal Department, the role also assists with:
* Crisis management coordination
* Maintaining Council's Business Continuity Plans
* Implementing and managing Council's Risk Management Framework and enterprise risk register
* Council's insurance renewal program
* Fraud and corruption control
