We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our Thickener and Clarifier Delivery Engineering team. This role contributes to design activities and provides high-quality engineering support across a wide range of projects involving Thickener technologies. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and reliable solutions to our clients.
Responsibilities
- Leading, managing and providing guidance to designers and draftspersons; ensuring the technical accuracy of their work
- Responsible for mechanical engineering aspects of projects and integration with other design teams and disciplines
- Producing mechanical engineering documentation including technical specifications and datasheets, and contributing to the preparation of equipment and maintenance manuals
- Managing technical aspects of procurement activities: ensuring sub-supplier deliveries satisfy project requirements, meet design standards and QEHS requirements
- Conducting fabrication workshop inspections and site inspections of plant and equipment as required
- Participating in and leading cold commissioning of domestic and overseas projects if required
- Participating in client meetings as required; contributing to design risk assessments, HAZOP studies, etc
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- At least 3 to 5 years of design experience in a medium to large process industry projects, preferably minerals related
- Engineering Graduate with Mechanical or Structural engineering degree
- Understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and practices including fluid mechanics and mechanical equipment design
- Professional and positive approach with high level planning and organizing skills
- Strong diagnostic, problem solving and decision-making skills covering design through to plant operation project phases
- Ability to self-manage, lead a team, and deliver multiple projects concurrently
- Willingness for infrequent, short term travel (domestic and international)
- Experience in mechanical design tools including SolidWorks (3D modelling and FEA) with ability to provide support for inspections and participate in internal/client meetings
- Accountable for completing assigned tasks on time and within budget
