Nice Kurry Place is a well-established Indian restaurant known for its authentic flavors and diverse menu, featuring rich curries, biryanis, tandoori specialties, and extensive vegetarian, non vegetarian and vegan options. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team, oversee food quality, and contribute to the continued success and growth of our restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for:

- Leading and supervising all kitchen operations and staff.
- Preparing and cooking a wide range of Indian dishes, including curries, biryanis, tandoori items, and plant-based options.
- Ensuring consistent delivery of authentic Indian flavours and high-quality food presentation.
- Developing new menu items, seasonal dishes, and signature specials.
- Training, mentoring, and supervising junior chefs, cook and apprentices.
- Managing stock control, ordering ingredients, and minimising waste.
- Maintaining strict cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards.
- Monitoring portion sizes and presentation to maintain consistency.
- Ensuring productive kitchen workflow during busy service periods.
- Collaborating with management on menu planning, costing, and kitchen improvements.
- Preparing meals to suit special dietary needs (e.g., gluten-free, vegan, allergies).
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional attitude.

Qualifications & Skills

- Proven experience as a Chef in a Restaurant or in Indian kitchen.
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (mandatory).
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Chef.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-management skills.
- Excellent ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of Indian spices, flavours, traditional cooking methods, and tandoor operation.
- Creativity in menu design and recipe development.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
