Engineering Manager – LAND 8710
Be the senior engineering leader for the Department of Defence – Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment Group's LAND 8710 project, one of the Army's most strategically significant capability programs under the Littoral Manoeuvre Program. You will drive design, build, test, certification, and assurance across one or both acquisition phases, delivering maritime and amphibious platforms that support regional operations, force projection, and joint amphibious tasks.
Security clearance (mandatory): NV1b>
* Lead multidisciplinary Engineering and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) teams, delivering engineering outcomes for Project Director oversight.
* Exercise delegated technical authority; ensure engineering compliance, safety, quality, configuration control and assurance per Defence engineering policy, contractual obligations, standards and WHS requirements.
* Oversee engineering scope, schedule, cost, risk and quality, and provide authoritative advice to Project Director and senior stakeholders.
* Manage engineering and ILS activities through detailed design, build, test and acceptance for shipbuilding (Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement with Austal) and amphibious vehicle (Acquisition Contract with Birdon).
* Coordinate engineering inputs from key Commonwealth stakeholders such as DSTG, DNE and NCB, and integrate engineering across platforms, systems, logistics and sustainment domains.
* Lead design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR), technical workshops, and certification and assurance planning.
Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary engineering qualification with Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) and proven experience managing complex acquisition engineering projects.
* Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and formal design reviews within Defence land and/or maritime domains.
* Strong knowledge of Defence acquisition frameworks, safety, and legislative compliance.
* Experience managing Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities in Defence shipbuilding or vehicle acquisition programs.
* High-level written and verbal communication, stakeholder engagement and strategic technical leadership skills.
* Required NV1 Security Clearance.
