**ABOUT THE DIVISION AND BRANCH**
The Ministerial and Parliamentary Services Division (MaPS) in the Department of Finance provides Ministers, Senators, Members and Office-holders and former Parliamentarians and their respective employees employed under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 (the MOPS Act) with a range of facilities and services to assist them in undertaking their duties.
The HR Frameworks Branch is responsible for policy development and advice in relation to the MOPS Act employment framework which provides parliamentarians with staffing resources to assist with their electorate, parliamentary and Ministerial work. The Branch also provides human resource functions, including payroll services, training and work health and safety.
**ABOUT TH**E** OPPORTUNITY**
We are seeking to fill the Assistant Director Policy and Assurance role at the EL1 level (ongoing and/or non-ongoing). This is an exciting role to contribute to key projects over the next 12 months including:
- Policy and legislative reform work to support implementing recommendations of the Set the Standard Report and review of the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 (MOP(S) Act);
- Strategy development, negotiation and implementation of a replacement Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23 (the Enterprise Agreement) for MOPS Act staff; and
- Establishment of the new Parliamentary Workplace Support Service (the PWSS) to provide Human Resources (HR) support to parliamentarians and MoP(S) Act staff and drive cultural change in parliamentary workplaces.
In this role, you will support the Director Policy and Assurance lead the Policy and Assurance Team in the:
- Provision of advice on the (MOP(S) Act employment framework, including the Enterprise Agreement and Enterprise Agreement Guidelines.
- Preparation of timely, high quality written material including on the MOPS Act employment framework for Minister's offices, senior executives, and committees.
- Maintenance of the online Ministerial and Parliamentary Services' (M&PS) guidance for parliamentarians and MOPS Act employees.
- Facilitating external committee meetings, including leading the team's secretariat support for the MOPS Act staff consultative committee.
- Other duties as required.
