Organisation:

Large federal government client with an compelling portfolio of operations. Lot's of career opportunities and the potential to work in different states and territories in Australia.

The Role:

You'll be working within a team that provides key advice to their business lines on internal compliance, risk management. Your responsibilities will cover:

- Compliance and risk analysis
- Conduct compliance audits
- Develop risk management procedures and SOPs
- Deliver risk management training to internal personnel
- Monitor, evaluate and report on risk and compliance activates

The role will focus on the financial risk and finance-based activities within the CFO group. Accounting qualifications are not necessary, and you do not need to be an accountant. However, you must be comfortable with the subject matter and able to grasp and work with financial compliance frameworks and liaise effectively with accounting staff in the CFO group.

In conducting compliance activities you'll often be managing large volumes of data, using PowerBI to funnel out the noise. You'll be investigating and understanding the anomalies in order to put in controls or tools to help manage compliance more effectively in the future.

The Department will offer you a permanent position via an S26 transfer (if you are already be a member of the federal APS), or a non-ongoing fixed term arrangement.

They have vacancies at the APS6 and EL1 level. The roles can be based in either Canberra or Melbourne. The APS6 role is more hands on, whilst the EL1 position will take on a broader component of leadership within the team.

Your Skills and Experience:

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate previous experience from compliance assurance and risk management in relation to regulation. This should be from the ACT or federal government at the APS6 or equivalent level.

These skills are critical to the role:

- Analytical skills
- Communication skills – both oral and written
- Diplomacy and emotional intelligence
- PowerBI Experience

This is a security cleared position and you must be an Australia Citizen and hold at least a baseline clearance.

However, candidates without fed. gov. experience may also be considered. If you have worked in the banking industry for example, from a similar role, you are encouraged to apply. As an Australian Citizen you will be sponsored for a security clearance.
